Checking-In on "Foursquare Day"

Do you check-in?  If you're hooked on checking-in with Foursquare, it's going to be much more difficult to be the "mayor" of your favorite coffee shop.

With over 20 million users, more than one million new users per month, and over 2 billion check-ins (yes, billion with a "B"), checking-in has clearly grown into a very popular activity.  Read about Foursquare's success here.

If you check-in anywhere today, Foursquare will automatically award you the "4sqDay 2012" badge - "the second annual celebration of the semiofficial Foursquare Day, which was coined by its users back in 2010", says Matt Brian via TNW.

Well, actually, Foursquare Day has just become official.  New York City's Mayor, Mike Bloomberg, has declared today "'Foursquare Day' in recognition of the startup's founding and growth in NYC." Check out the infographic and declaration on Mayor Bloomberg's website.

If you aren't aware of Foursquare (don't worry, we won't tell anyone...) check out this video explaining what it is:
