Joining Forces, a national initiative to recognize, honor and support our military families
Our military service members represent only 1 percent of our population, but they shoulder the responsibility of protecting our entire Nation. Missing birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and so many of the daily moments we spend with the people we love, they make incredible sacrifices. But, they do not make them alone.
This Memorial Day, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Bideb are asking Americans to honor the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed so much for our country by supporting our military families and veterans. You can join in by sending a note of thanks to our military families. For more information, visit: JoiningForces.gov

"New Life for Old Memories" (via Money Magazine)
[repost]Just days after being profiled in "the world's largest circulation consumer magazine," AARP Magazine, ScanMyPhotos.com was back for more. Check out the April issue of "Money Magazine," [page 48, "New Life for Old Memories"]. Columnist Adam Bluestein wrote on "[t]he smartest ways to digitize your photos, home movies, and more."
Excerpt:
Those videos of your kids pushing birthday cake into each other's faces - you'll watch them again, right? Maybe not. Videotape can start to degrade in as little as a decade, says Sarah Stauderman, preservation manager at the Smithsonian Institution. Home-movie reels, photos, and slides aren't immortal either. And if they're not in a format that's easy to use, no one is going to see them.
The solution: Turn your old-media images digital. Once you stow them on DVDs, you'll be able to view them on your computer or TV whenever - not to mention easily foist them on others. Follow our smart strategies and you can say to those college friends who post embarrassing pix of you on Facebook: Revenge is at hand.
To digitize photo prints:
On the cheap. Got hundreds of snaps? Your most economical move is to send 'em to an automated scanning service. ScanMyPhotos.com is one of the quickest and least expensive around. [$84] (including shipping) for 1,000 photos, or [9]-cents each.
[See ScanMyPhotos.com for complete menu of all photo imaging services, including prints from digital, photo albums, scanning slides, digitizing negatives, transferring VHS tapes to DVD and hundreds of other services. We were founded in 1990 and are here to assist you.]

PMA '11 To Co-Locate With CES 2012: "New York - The Consumer ElectronicsAssociation (CEA) and Photo Marketing ..."
Photo Marketing Association Las Vegas Fall Trade Show Co-Located with CES in January
Event to Be Colocated with CES in January 2012 as PMA@CES
The PMA 2011 trade show and convention, which was rebranded CliQ 2011 earlier this year by the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) and rescheduled for September 6-11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, has now been cancelled. Instead, the show will be colocated at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas as PMA@CES.
The Photo Marketing Association International (PMA) today announced a partnership agreement with the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), owner and producer of the International CES, to move the September 2011 PMA International Convention and Trade Show (aka CliQ 2011) to colocate at the 2012 International CES, scheduled for January 10-13 in Las Vegas.
PMA@CES will offer industry-specific content and display products representing all aspects of digital imaging. PMA will also offer its well-known educational seminars, complementing and enhancing CES programming.
“PMA colocation with CES creates a great opportunity for our combined audiences to learn from each other, grow, and take full advantage of the integration and connectivity of personal content (in the form of digital photography) and home entertainment,” notes Ted Fox, executive director, PMA. “This convergence will expand with continued enhancements to camera phones and tablets.”
[ScanMyPhotos.com has been active member of PMA since 1990 and will continue to support the organization].
“This collaboration will significantly enhance the 2012 International CES digital imaging product offerings for our retail and other audiences,” says Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “Technology is speeding the rapid convergence of digital photography and home entertainment systems. The breadth and scope of digital imaging product offerings that PMA will now bring to CES will complement and further expand the extensive growth of CES in this product category.”
According to Fox, “Our agreement [with CES] is an excellent example of two trade associations coming together to constructively and proactively address challenges and provide new opportunities.”
PMA@CES will be located at the Sands/Venetian and will be sponsored by PMA. Companies interested in exhibiting should contact Melissa Aldrich or Jeff Frazine at 800-762-9287 or +1-517-788-8100 (internationally). They also can be reached by email at maldrich@pmai.org or jfrazine@pmai.org.
