How to Scan Photos Super fast
  • For smaller scanning jobs, when you have just a handful of pictures to digitize, we recommend you use a standard flat-bed scanner and do it yourself. But, when you have an entire generation of photos, consider this: Whether it's 1,000 or 25,000 pictures, ScanMyPhotos.com provides same day scanning.

  • Cost to scan up to 1,000 pictures is just $49.95 when you send us your photos in your box or visit our Orange County, California headquarters

Best value: Have nearly 6,000 photos scanned for just $249.95, or 10,000 for $495.00 (including two frree photo albums you design online) when buy two prepaid, free shipping boxes and the third is free, or the six box special. Same day scanning service applies all orders.

    Best tip: use the ScanMyPhotos.com

"Blogger Kudos" from Craig, Editor of GeneaBlogie

Click here to read Craig Manson's comments about the 2008 Artistry of Genealogy Awards' receipents. We were especially moved by Mr. Manson's link and reference to FreedomCalls.Org.

For those unfamiliar with ScanMyPhotos.com and our parent company's 18-year history of advocacy for important national causes, including Operation Photo - where donated digital cameras were presented to OperationHomeFront.net for distribution to military families across the nation. [DONT SEND CAMERAS, PROGRAM HAS EXPIRED].

Other advocacy campaigns included Fly with Courage, were we traveled from Barcelona to NYC and Los Angeles on Sept 11, 2002, to demonstrate that air travel was safe when the planes were otherwise empty. The largest project was on Veteran's Day 2001, where we brought 5,000 people to the Big Apple to support commerce and the city's recovery. Oops, forgot the literally largest project, we are the lead plaintiff's - representing millions of merchants - battling Visa, MasterCard and the major banks over their fees.

Jasia's Much Deserved "Honkin' Her Own Horn"

Click here to visit Jasia's "The Creative Gene" website. Congratulation's to her for an extraordinary job and one that has attracted attention from many of our nationwide voters and customers.

In keeping with the theme for the April 4, 2008 edition of the Carnival of Genealogy (Cars as stars of our family history), I'd like to take a moment to honk my own horn! The Creative Gene blog and the Carnival of Genealogy have gotten some media attention this week. First I received an email from Mitch Goldstone of ScanMyPhotos.com indicating that my blog was chosen to be the recipient of a 2008 Artistry of Genealogy Award in the category of "Best Ongoing Family History Story". I love this category and am flattered that my blog is seen this way! Yeah! The award announcement was written up on their blog earlier in the week and the press release came out today. I'd like to thank Mitch and the folks at ScanMyPhotos.com for the award. I'm honored!

I'd also like to send out a round of applause to my fellow genea-blogger, Miriam at AnceStories, who won for the category, "Best Personal Genealogy Blog". Yeah! Then I was quite surprised to read Randy's post announcing that my blog and the COG were featured in an article by Janice Nickerson in the May 2008 issue of Internet Genealogy magazine. How cool is that? I'm tickled that the COG is getting the attention it deserves. And I want to thank everyone who contributes to it for making it the terrific publication that it is! And thanks to Janice Nickerson and Internet Genealogy magazine for getting the word out. I appreciate it! And last but not least, I'd like to thank my loyal friends Randy, Becky, Jessica, and Bill for their announcements and kind expressions. You guys rock!

The Photo Preservation Center Announces the 2008 Artistry of Genealogy Awards; Sponsored by ScanMyPhotos.com

And the winners are .....

Serving as a source of inspiration and recognition to showcase outstanding genealogy websites, the 2008 Artistry of Genealogy Awards (AGA) recognizes excellence in preserving family history through genealogy. The categories and winners were selected by consumers across the country who had their photo memories digitally preserved by ScanMyPhotos.com.

Technology has enhanced the interest in learning about genealogy - the art of studying family history and investigating the ancestry of a family tree. While there are tens of thousands of Blog postings and websites dedicated to genealogy, The Photo Preservation Center - an educational division of ScanMyPhotos.com - has commissioned a study to reveal the very best sites and is announcing the winners of the 2008 Artistry of Genealogy Awards.

"The 2008 Artistry of Genealogy Awards was planned to coincide with April’s ‘The Great American Photo Scanning Month’ to encourage having the 3.5 trillion analog photo snapshots digitally preserved," said Mitch Goldstone, Chairman of the Photo Preservation Center and president and CEO of ScanMyPhotos.com, AGA’s sponsor.

"As generations of family photos begin to fade away, our goal is to promote photo scanning, 'The Great American Photo Scanning Month' promises to inspire many people to have their photos digitally scanned," said Goldstone.

Throughout April, ScanMyPhotos.com is providing 1000 free photo scans to members of four leading social networking sites. Along with all members of each website recognized by the AGA’s, Flickr, MySpace, Blogger and Facebook members can have up to 1,000 4x6" photos scanned to DVD without charge when they mail their pictures to ScanMyPhotos.com and pay $19.95 for return S&H and include the downloadable order form.

The 2008 Artistry of Genealogy Award winners was selected during a telephone survey of 945 ScanMyPhotos.com customers across the nation during January 12 - March 24, 2008 who identified their favorite websites for each of the below categories. See Tales from the World of Photo Scanning: [www.blog.ScanMyPhotos.com] for complete listing and descriptions.

The National Funeral Directors Association and Photo Scanning

While much of the ScanMyPhotos.com business is based on lighthearted and special memories - from wedding and anniversary celebrations - the generations of analog photographs, slides and film scanned to digital are also just as sensitive and heavy-with-emotion when presented during a memorial or funeral service.

The difference is that the time factor and sensitivity of each assignment is extraordinarily important and must be unequivocal in its perfection during your time of profound grief. The last thing a family needs to worry about is how to have their photo memories scanned for a funeral service.

For members of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) - the leading funeral service association, with more than 20,000 members, ScanMyPhotos.com provides personalized and preeminent care, that has helped make our company standout since 1990 as leaders in the photo imaging industry.

    Announcement for NFDA Members

When placing your scanning order to be shared during a memorial or funeral service, please note that ScanMyPhotos.com will always advance your order to the next one processed. Photo, slide and film scanning orders should be FedExed overnight using this online order form - first click here to view instructions on how to prepare your order for scanning. Add a copy of this blog posting to your order and it will be expedited with same day return. Your entire order will be completed and received back to you anywhere in the U.S. on the next business day - just select FedEx return expedited delivery.

ScanMyPhotos.com has transformed the photo industry by pioneering Kodak imaging technology and Kodak Capture Software to provide super-fast and the most affordable scanning service - it’s our market niche. We are the ones who commercialized bulk photo scanning with an instant turnaround and are regularly profiled by the national media for our digital imaging innovations.

Photo Scanning: The Most Personalized Mother's Day Gift

Click here to go directly to the ScanMyPhotos.com Website

Better than Chocolate, which melts away, or flowers, which are not very permanent either are your photo memories.

Thanks to the pioneering innovations that have been commercialized at ScanMyPhotos.com, using KODAK technology, preserving your pictures is more than economical. One-thousand pictures scanned for a pay-one price, flat-fee of just $49.95, or order our prepaid box, which holds more than 1,600+ 4x6" pictures for just $124.95. Photo scanning is smart and will be remembered long after the box of chocolates are gone. Besides, life is much more than "a box of chocolate."

The most personalized Mother's Day gift for 2008 is sharing all your favorite, funniest, touching and endearing moments with your loved ones. Over the years you collect many treasures, especially memories through photography. All those old Polaroid snapshots, trips to wondrous vacations and especially the backyard barbecue parties and blowing out that first-year candle on the birthday cake are magical moments.

Each of these are "KODAK Moments." And, the Eastman Kodak Company is a very big part of our success. It is KODAK technology that powers our entire scanning division. We have trusted the KODAK brand and its worldwide leadership in the photo imaging industry since our launch in 1990. ScanMyPhotos.com is even featured on the Kodak.com website as a customer profile for our commercialization of their super-fast, award-winning professional imaging scanners.

This Mother's Day - May 11th - you can easily get all your analog print snapshots magically preserved. We do slides, negatives and VHS tapes too.

But, that's only part of the gift of a lifetime.

You can have every picture photo enhanced, build your own photo album online, order Kodak-quality photo reprints and enlargements and make your own collage-framed scrapbooking enlargements and more... much more.

The only thing we don't do is gift wrap your new photo keepsakes. Your orders are all personally and very carefully and securely packaged, just not gift wrapped with a bow. That's a great idea, but just not our speciality.

Since 1990, we have been well-known leaders in the photo imaging industry and are experts at what we do best - preserve your photo memories super-fast and economically.

All your photo scanning and online digital imaging services for ordering photos and photo gifts are processed, customized and fulfilled the same business day it is received. Customer Profile: Super-fast Photo Scanning

How's This For Fast Photo Scanning Service?

A customer from Delaware who was referred by a longtime ScanMyPhotos.com fan sent us 4,817 pictures via UPS. It was received at 10:01 am this morning. The problem was that these photos were a rush for her husband's birthday celebration and was hoping to have it expedited. They needed the digitized images back

ScanMyPhotos.com does feature a super-fast rush service where we send back just your completed digital DVD data disc for next day morning arrival via FedEx Priority service. In this case, the boxes of very heavy pictures were then sent back at the least expensive courier rate, as there was no rush to have the pictures back.

The local time right now is 11:24 am; the entire order has been completed and the FedEx delivery notification with tracking details are on the way. That's the magic of ScanMyPhotos.com super-fast service and how emotional this business is. First, we expect the customer to become our newest best fan, and share our digital imaging work with her family and friends as they celebrate their special event.

    Photo Scanning Customer Profile:

My father-in-law approached me to help him with a family tree project. I always look to technology to cover my laziness and I vaguely remembered a social network named
Geni.com that is based on family trees.

Once we started populating our family tree we wanted to post profile photos of each family member. I asked both my parents and my in-laws to give me their old family photos. In aggregate, they numbered approximately 3,000 all of which you scanned in a few batches in record time.

We then uploaded many of the photos to our family tree, tagged individuals in the photos and encouraged the now 1000+ strong membership to log-in and identify people in the photos.

Before we knew it, we had a rush of collaboration around these photos and numerous people in my extended family re-discovered each other. It is now a big source of happiness for my parent's generation and my great aunts and uncles. Close to my heart is my Great Aunt Estelle. At 90, she is usually logging into Geni to comment or correct information well past the end of Jay Leno.

I have attached a picture of Estelle and some other family members from a photo clearly taken in the 60s. These photos together with corresponding life-event information will be a valuable shared resource for years to come.

Budget Travel: Freebie: "Get 1,000 Photos Digitized "

    Our reply follows:

Sean - Thanks for your posting on our 1000 free photo scanning for members of the leading social networking sites. Your observations and feedback are especially helpful to us.

Just added Budget Travel's "This Just In" posting to our Blog: Tales from the World of Photo Scanning.

Nearly 1/2 of the 5+ million pictures we have scanned represent generations of travel pictures, so your comments will be helpful to encourage people to get their analog photos digitized, and you can't beat free for the first 1,000 photographs (just $19.95 S&H).
Of the travel photos, the three locations that most standout are decades of exterior shots on the Strip in Las Vegas (constantly changing), decades of tea cup and other Disney attractions - with lots of long-gone hair and clothing styles, and the most emotional site is that nearly every order has a family posed near the World Trade Center in NYC during happier times. Our blog has more info on this and other tales from the world of photo scanning

    What About Those Polaroid Snapshots?

Click here to go directly to the ScanMyPhotos.com Web site

Each day we get Live Support and calls asking if ScanMyPhotos.com can digitally scan those old Polaroid snapshots. The answer is, yes!

Any size photo from a 2 ½ x 3” wallet picture to an 11 x 14” enlargement can be scanned. As long as it is not copyrighted and that it also meets with our ordering requirements (see link). Most of the traditional Polaroid’s are still analog and need to be scanned before the images and memories fade away.

Customer Profile: The Power of a Picture Scanned - Jimmy A.

[click on scanned photo below to enlarge]

This picture [scanned by ScanMyPhotos.com on Feb 21] is of former Flint Energies employees Cary Hayes and Reba Harrison, circa 1960's.

This is a tale of corporate history, instead of personal history. Flint Energies
www.flintenergies.com is one of nearly 1,000 rural electric cooperatives in the United States. Rural electric cooperatives were formed in the late 1930's and early 1940's to serve electricity in rural areas where no other company ever brought power lines. We are not-for-profit cooperatives, organized to serve a need at cost, instead of generating profits for shareholders.

Flint Energies was formed in 1937 and serves 17 counties of Middle Georgia from Columbus to Warner Robins, GA. With 80,000 consumer/members today, we are one of the largest rural electric cooperatives (but a very small electric utility).

We had all of our corporate history photos and slides in shoeboxes. For nearly 10 years, we had hoped for a better solution to imaging and storing our photos. An extensive Internet search found
www.ScanMyPhotos.com. A box of family history photos is one thing, but imagine boxes and boxes of black and white photos, Polaroid's, 8x10's, Post-it notes stuck to the backs, slides, and some photos which were obviously set up for use by old-time lead-type printers.

Flint was very apprehensive about shipping our corporate history, but a meeting at the Anaheim Convention Center gave us an opportunity to bring 1000's of photos and slides from Georgia on a plane. (A fun side: Our photos traveled to Southern California in a carry-on bag so heavy, the security folks in Atlanta pulled us aside for a more formal search. The TSA employee said she had never seen so many photos in one place. "Is it just pictures all the way to the bottom," she asked. "I said yes and told her to search all she wanted....but please don't let any fall out."

It's a good thing that carry-on bags aren't normally weighed. Next time I will plan to ship my photos to ScanMyPhotos.com. I have five DVD's to show for my aching back!

    Jimmy A. - Georgia

[Editors note: Jimmy is a Georgia resident and brought a suitcase of nearly 7000 pictures to be scanned during a business trip to California. He first learned about ScanMyPhotos.com from our website and we are thrilled to have him as a great new customer and his photos represent what is nearly our 5-millioned picture scanned].
